Actionable tips to keep improving

#1 - I'll take crazy action over deep strategic thinking every day...and you should too
What not do to
Don't create a 3-month prospecting plan, write one email.
Don't strategize a sales process, go ask a prospect some questions.
Don't build a 15 slide deck, start with 5.
Don't build competitive battle cards, ask your prospects what they like/dislike about the competitor.
Try this instead
Take crazy action
Think it through 50% of the way and then take action and talk with prospects
You'll learn more from doing something than you will from trying to get your plan to 100%
#2 - Do small things to get big results
That's the advice James Clear gives in his #1 Bestseller book, Atomic Habits. Still one of my favorite books of all time. And it’s definitely worth taking his advice.
Imagine this.
You decide to make a big change in your life. In your personal life it might be to lose weight, exercise more, or things like that. In your work life, it might be you wanting to double your income this year. Or perhaps you want to build a much bigger pipeline.
You have these big things. You want to change. So you immediately start implementing big changes in your routine, right? You say I'm going to go to the gym every day this week for an hour workout and lift some weights.Or if you're trying to build a bigger pipeline, you say I'm going to prospect for 25 hours next week. And you go at it. You go the gym, send all of the emails, make all of the calls.
And you do all these big things and then suddenly, before you know it, you're back to your old ways.
If you have experienced that, you have experienced what pretty much every human being faces when they're trying to make these big changes.
Why? Um…because we take on too much!
Try this instead...
Two years later, you’ll probably find yourself at the gym for an hour as your normal routine because you have gradually improved every day with small achievable goals. You wanted to exercise more…why not go for just a few minutes, until you get a little out of breath and then go home. Then repeat that the next day and the next day after that. Leave when you get a little out of breath. Two years later, you’ll probably find yourself at the gym for an hour as your normal routine because you have gradually improved every day with small achievable goals.
You want to find those prospects? It could be, tomorrow you will sit down at nine o'clock and make the first call. The next day, repeat. The next day, repeat again….These small habits will start formulating into your psyche, and then you can build on them and then build some more and then even more.
So my challenge to you is how do you take this concept of small habits, Atomic Habits from James Clear’s book, and start using them to make changes in your life?
