Time for a dad joke break...

What do sprinters eat before a race? Nothing, they fast!

#2 - Be the telescope, not the microscope

Do you find yourself inspecting and analyzing the past a little too much? If 50% of your 1:1s with your team is spent on what they have or have not done, or on what they are doing right now…that’s too much. These hold little value for your sellers, and therefore little value for you.Instead...

  • What if most of your calls were about the next few steps?

  • About discussing how to make deals bigger and faster

  • About new ideas, fresh approaches

  • Helping your seller grow

How much more valuable would the calls be for both of you?

#3 - Practice does not make perfect

“Practice makes perfect” is another phrase from our childhood that is just plain wrong.Too often we find a way of working that is comfortable to us. And we think it is the best thing to do because it feels good. We keep practicing this and get really good at our way of doing something. But times change and we need to practice new things. And we need help from those around us to make sure that what we are starting to do, is correct. If we don’t, we end up like me when I tried to learn yoga on my own. I enjoyed trying new positions. Sometimes it even felt like I was doing them correctly. But the reality was, I didn't have a clue what 'correct' looked like.I needed someone to help me get it right before my practice makes perfect. We have to practice the right things and perfect those. And we usually need someone else to help us do that.
